Krems

We visit the town of Krems, which is not only known for the production of its famous mustard, but also as an architectural jewel and the cradle of the Kremstal wine region.

Boat trip & Melk Abbey

On board we enjoy a wine tasting as we cruise through the Wachau and admire the picturesque views, majestic castles, charming villages, palaces, medieval castle ruins, vineyards, baroque steeples and charming towns. Along the way we taste another wonder of the valley: the wonderful apricots, which are as prized here as the wine. The destination of our journey is the sacred pearl of the Baroque, Melk Abbey, with one of the most beautiful libraries in the world, adorned with illusionistic frescoes that inspired Umberto Eco.

Dürnstein & Richard the Lionheart

The morning is also full of energy in the town of Dürnstein, whose unmistakable atmosphere is characterized by the narrow, cobbled streets, the exceptionally colourful and richly decorated town houses, dominated by the monumental blue tower of the baroque former collegiate church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, which belongs to the former monastery of the Augustinian canons. Above the town rise the imposing ruins of the castle in which the Austrian Duke Leopold V held the "rex anglorum", Richard the Lionheart, prisoner.

Wine & apricot tasting

We will find solace in the Domäne Wachau - the heart of viticulture - where, together with an expert in the famous baroque Kellerschlössel, we will taste the region's most famous wines - Steinfeder, Federspiel, Smaragd - whose taste is unforgettable. We also visit the local wine cellars with an expert and can stock up on regional specialties in the vinotheque, including schnapps and liqueurs made from the most delicious apricots in the world.
