Strauss Museum

An interactive guided walk, starting with a visit to the Johann Strauss Museum, located in the composer's former representative flat, not far from the Prater. This is a special place of creativity and an important period in the life of the ‘King of the Viennese Waltz’, here the world's most famous waltz ‘On the beautiful blue Danube’ was created. The exhibition shows, among other things, pratitures, documents, personal effects as well as instruments in the possession of the Strauss family.

Volksgarten - a synonym for entertainment

The Volksgarten is a park located on the grounds of the Hofburg - the palace and garden complex. It was here that, from 1867 onwards, Strauss ‘entertained’ Viennese society with his music in the famous concert café. To this day, the ‘Volksgarten’ is synonymous with entertainment and nightlife.

State Opera- place of premiere

The opera was created during the reign of Emperor Franz Joseph I. Standing in front of the impressive historicist architecture, one realises the musical importance of Vienna on the international stage. Not only does the premiere of Strauss's opera ‘Ritter Pásmán’ take place in the opera house, in 1894 the audience congratulated the Waltz King with hurricane applause on the occasion of his 50th anniversary as an artist. And in 1899, shortly before his death, the 74-year-old Strauss conducted the overture to ‘Die Fledermaus’.

Musikverein - venue for the New Year's Concert

In 1870, Johann Strauss conducted the waltz ‘Freut Euch des Lebens’ here, composed for the opening ball of the newly built Musikverein building. The Society of Friends of Music- is mainly known for the most important musical event of the year, the New Year's Concert. The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra perfectly preserves the tradition of performing the Viennese waltz.

Strauss monument - Adieu Maestro!

At the end of the tour, we will be confronted with the most desirable photographic motif of 2025! The "Golden Strauss" was immortalised in the Municipal Park during the unveiling ceremony in 1921, with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra playing in front of the statue.
